The difference is fundamental: soft washing kills biological growth at the root, preventing rapid regrowth. Pressure washing displaces growth without killing it, so regrowth occurs from the surviving root system within months.
A soft wash roof clean uses a biocidal solution that kills mould, algae and lichen at the root level — including the spores that cause regrowth. Because the organism has been killed rather than displaced, regrowth has to start from scratch from new airborne spores rather than from the surviving root system. This is why soft wash results last 2 to 4 times longer than pressure washing results.
