Bore water staining is a specific and often severe exterior cleaning challenge across rural Queensland — particularly in South Burnett, Somerset, the Lockyer Valley and other areas where properties rely on bore water for irrigation. Bore water in many parts of SEQ contains elevated iron content. When bore water from roof-fed irrigation systems or sprinklers contacts roofing materials, walls and concrete, the iron oxidises and bonds to the surface as iron oxide — the familiar orange-brown rust-coloured staining.
